Celebrities that used a Celebrant
I often have to explain what a celebrant does because so many people don’t know that there is any other option than a ceremony led by the register or a vicar or priest. But using a celebrant for your wedding isn’t a new thing, in fact it’s been happening for decades!!!
Traditional Route:
Let the council know you want to get married > they give notice of your wedding 2 weeks before > registrar or vicar performs your ceremony.
Modern Route:
Let the council know you want to get married > they give notice of your wedding 2 weeks before > 10 min legal words with council > celebrant led ceremony
The modern route allows you to get the legals done at a convenient time (in the week is usually quieter) and then have your wedding wherever and whenever you like….. and here are some famous people who did that exact thing:
Dua Lipa & Calum Turner
Singe Dua Lipa and actor (rumoured to be the next James Bond) Callum Turner did their legal ceremony at Marleybone Town Hall in London in May then their actual wedding ceremony was held in Sicily.
Kourtney Kardashian & Travis Barker
Kardashian stalwart Kourtney and Blink 182 legend Travis Barker got married in Santa Barbara and then did their Wedding Ceremony in Portofino Italy.
Vicky Pattison & Ercan Ramadan
Former Geordie Shore star and latter day TV personality did their legals in a small London register office and then again, went to Italy to have the wedding ceremony.
So all of these celebrities favoured Italy for the wedding ceremony, but here is what is could look like for. you:
- Let your council know that you want to get married
- The Council gives 2 weeks notice of your marriage
- You do you legals one Tuesday morning a couple of weeks before your wedding ceremony
- You have your ceremony in a gorgeous venue that you love, you can afford but doesn’t hold a licence for weddings
My husband is Autistic and if we were getting married again, we might do it in our garden.. .just an intimate affair where he feels comfortable and the space is our own. How lovely. Where would you pick?
